"...And yes, Virginia, all because,
The truth won't save you now" - The Dresden Dolls - Mrs. O.
_________
The final incarnation of a piece first inspired by Kaoru Izima's 'Landscape with a Corpse' series.
Made with hand made felt (wool tops, alpaca, felt pebbles, linen & viscose fibres, - 20+ hours), hand embroidered with rag doll style cross-stitches, French knots, and general other hand stitching. It's finished with antique silk and mother of pearl buttons (I used the backs of buttons for the straps). I considered adding some old sepia photographs printed onto fabric in some of the spaces, but I think it works without them. I'm really pleased with this, and despite never wanting to do felting ever again, had quite a lot of fun with most of it.
Hi, just wanted to let you know that I really love this dress! It is one of my all-time favorites here on DA. It inspired me to make a felt dress of my own:
Beautiful a friend of mine did a costume using tea bags tryin to get the same sort of effect and i must admit i love this one and welll i'm sure it didn't smell as bad either!! ; )
